Missy Wadford

Monessa (Missy) Wadford, a Registered Nurse, since 1994, graduated from Northeast Mississippi Community College with an Associate Degree of Applied Science, and completed her Bachelors of Science degree in June, 2011 from Chamberlain College of Nursing.  

Missy received her Wound Care Certification in January, 2006, and Ostomy Management Specialist in 2013.  She has also maintained membership in the National Alliance of Wound Care (NAWC) since 2006.  She attends the Wild on Wounds conferences annually to stay abreast of current trends and changes in the wound care industry.  

Missy received the 2012 Outstanding Wound Care Certified (WCC) Clinician of the year from the NAWC from over 11,000 wound care certified clinicians across the country.  

Employment with Sta-Home & Hospice began in July, 1995.  She has worked in various roles, including staff nurse, Patient Care Manager, Branch Manager, liaison to wound care centers, development of policies, procedures, protocols, and education.  She is currently, the Director of the Wound Program.  Missy assists with content development, wound and ostomy care education to patients and nursing staff, and provides direct patient care.

In addition she provides extensive training on wound care to new nurse hires and educates all staff on the Observation and Assessment Information Set (OASIS) requirements for wound care.  She was also chosen to receive the founder’s award for Sta-Home Health & Hospice in 2012.

Missy has utilized leadership skills while using a team-building approach to develop a successful wound program at Sta-home Health & Hospice.  Currently working with a multidisciplinary team to utilize and provide evidence-based wound care practice and education to patients, families, physicians and clinics helps to ensure quality patient care and improved outcomes across the continuum of care.
