Ival Secrest

Ival grew up in Northern Kentucky and went to Berea College in Berea, KY. After Kentucky, he lived in New Mexico, Ohio, Alabama and Pennsylvania before deciding to settle in Sierra Vista, AZ – where the winters are easy; and except for a few days, the summers are enjoyable because of the monsoons.

Ival had ileostomy surgery in 1978 after battling a severe case of Ulcerative Colitis for several months. He founded a local ostomy support group in Sierra Vista in 1980. He has served on the Friends of Ostomates Worldwide-USA Board of Directors 1996 – 2013 and served as the President 2006 – 2011. Ival served on the UOAA Board of Directors 2013 – 2016. He and his wife live in their RV 6-8 months each year; and thanks to technology, he stays connected with family, friends and organizations.

Ival is extremely knowledgeable of ostomies and ostomy life.  He has been an active supporter and advocate for the improvement of the quality of life for ostomates for many years.  We are extremely blessed to have Ival in our Ostomy Family.
